The Town of Saltville is rich in history, scenic beauty, and community spirit. Yet, the town is also a community in significant need. The small town and its residents are challenged with limited resources and deficiencies in many of the opportunities for access to literature, arts, culture, entertainment, and technology that are common in larger communities. The County hired Enteros Design to conduct a space needs and feasibility study to assess whether a renovation of the small, existing library or the construction of a new library was in the town’s best interest.
Enteros delivered a report that recommended a new library be built on a selected site near the town’s high school to maintain accessibility and visibility. Concepts of the potential library and a cost estimate were included in the report.
The proposed new library will continue to house collections for adults, teens, and children, but will now be able to accommodate meeting space, study rooms, flexible program rooms, and expanded staff and service areas. Natural light will permeate the interior of the building through large windows, creating a warm, inclusive, and welcoming environment.
