Goodwill Industries of the Valley hired Enteros Design to transform a 89,000 sf building occupied with offices and warehouse storage into a vibrant community hub. Anchored by the Melrose Library on one end, Melrose Plaza will include a grocery store, bank, wellness center, adult high school, exhibit space, and child-watch areas. This large-scale multi-purpose center will be an important resource for this vibrant but under-served community.

The Melrose neighborhood has lagged behind some of its adjacent communities in critical standards of living. A food desert, with low educational success rates, and lacking in sufficient affordable childcare, the area will be well served by this addition to the community. Citizens can receive a GED while their children are being looked after in a childwatch program, and then shop in the attached grocery store for healthy, competitively priced foods. Goodwill Industries of the Valley also partnered with the Bank of Botetourt to offer financial services in the center.

Melrose Plaza is designed to be meaningful to the community and showcases artwork and graphic installations by local artists.
