Gil had the pleasure of meeting the great, tight-knit community of Saltville as we collaborate on the plans for the future of the library! Three days, lots of meetings, and stunning scenery. This small community in Smyth County was eager and enthusiastic to share all their fantastic ideas. We look forward to developing a path toward a modern, multi-faceted library facility for our new friends!

Charles City County Library Opens!

Published on June 10, 2019

It was a surprisingly dry, sunny day on Sunday to greet the hundreds of visitors to the Charles City County Library Grand Opening.

Enteros Design has been working with the County and the dedicated folks at the Charles City Library Foundation for almost 10 years to deliver this brand-spanking-new library. The 8,200 sf library facility is situated in the County Administration Complex and was designed to be modern, yet not compete with the surrounding historic architecture.

One of the most distinguishing design details of the library is the County theme of 4 Centuries, 3 Cultures, 2 Rivers, 1 County. As one of the oldest established communities in the nation, the County is influenced by 3 cultures that helped form its current identity: the English Settlers, the African-American community, and the Indian Americans. In tribute to this identity, Architect Nick Monday developed the concept of a tribal inspired huskenaw to serve as the center piece of the children’s library.

The library was packed as the whole community came out to show its support and enthusiasm.

The project team included SilverCore for civil engineering, Lynch Mykins for structural engineering, Inversity Consultants for MEP engineering. The library was constructed by David A. Nice Builders.

Ribbon Cutting at Colonial Heights Middle!

Published on August 30, 2018

It’s always wonderful to see the finished product of so many months of hard work.  But it’s especially exciting to see a project that elicits so much joy from it’s users.  Enteros worked with Colonial Heights Middle School to update, expand, modernize, and streamline the outdated cafeteria.  Kudos to CHPS for making this project a priority for it’s students!

Hopewell’s Getting Saucy!

Published on January 30, 2018

Hopewell just got a little tastier with opening of Saucy’s, a Petersburg grown BBQ joint.  Known for it’s original location, where hungry customers lined up outside a refurbished shipping container for eats, Saucy’s opened Saucy’s Sit-Down in Old Towne Petersburg to meet the high demand.  And the demand has only grown!  Owners Tom and Liz McCormick decided to expand their restaurant to the ever growing landscape of Hopewell last year, and approached Enteros Design to help create an open, industrial-feel space for their new sit-down restaurant.  Voted as one of the top twenty places in the South for a pork barbecue sandwich by Southern Living magazine, the new venue held a soft opening this past Sunday. It may have been a cold, rainy day, but that didn’t keep the crowd from turning out for some amazing BBQ!

Petersburg Family YMCA Breaks Ground

Published on December 6, 2017

Everyone came out to celebrate the groundbreaking for the renovated and expanded Petersburg Family YMCA: from the families and foundations that made the building process possible to the teen leaders that are one reason the Petersburg Y is so deserving of a beautiful, expanded facility.  As a Petersburg firm, we couldn’t be more proud to be chosen for this project.  And as avid Y members (spin class, anyone?!?!?!), we couldn’t be more invested.  Thank you, TJ, Chris, Nick, and the whole Y family for letting us be a part of this process.

The Blessing of St. Joseph Catholic Church Parish Hall

Published on October 27, 2017

St. Joseph Catholic Church has been an integral part of the Petersburg community for almost 200 years. In 2011, the church’s parish hall–a gathering place for fellowship, community, and prayer–was destroyed in a fire. This past Sunday, August 30, 2017, the Reverend Brian Capuano blessed the new St. Vincent De Paul Hall. Enteros Design worked with the church, its committees, and members to design a functional, bright, durable, and cost efficient space that compliments both the historic architecture of the existing church and the surrounding civic architecture of the new Petersburg Library and the new Multi-Modal Transit Center.

Maria Andrea Lizarzabal joins Enteros as an architectural designer.  A native of Venezuela, Maria has traveled and studied all over the world.  While completing her Masters in Advanced Architecture in Argentina, Maria worked with Mariano Clusellas and Mathias Klotz.

Nick Monday, AIA, comes to us from Wendell/Evolve, with extensive experience in large scale institutional and educational projects.  Nick was actually Enteros Design’s first employee way back in 2004.  Looking to keep busy during his first summer out of college, he helped design a restaurant interior in Old Towne, Petersburg, before accepting a long term position with Moseley Architects.  Welcome back, Nick!
