Thomas Day’s Milton House

Milton, North Carolina

The original house was designed by Thomas Day in Milton, North Carolina, circa 1840.  Day was a free black carpenter who produced uniquely designed architectural millwork and furniture in the mid 19th century.  After many years of abandonment, and near demolition, this house was saved and dismantled.  Each piece of the house was numbered and cataloged by the new owner.  The original frame and remaining details of the house will be reassembled with new complimentary additions for modern conveniences.  By studying traces of remaining architectural details and research, these elevations were created to show the original character of the house.
